K-Swiss buys fast-growing OTZ brand

E.Land and K-Swiss have bought the US-based footwear brand that models its styles on oldest shoe ever found - worn by Oetzi, the prehistoric iceman found frozen in the Austrian Alps in 1991.

OTZ Shoes will operate as an independent subsidiary of K-Swiss, with key executives remaining in place. The acquisition marks the first addition to the K-Swiss portfolio since the completion of its April 30 merger with Taiwan's E.Land.

"OTZ Shoes has done a tremendous job establishing distinction and elevating the bar in the comfort market," said Larry Remington, CEO of K-Swiss. "We believe that with our resources and infrastructure, we can help the brand dominate the contemporary comfort category and realise its global potential."

OTZ has grown 300% every year since its launch in 2009 and is now sold in 23 countries.
