The fortieth edition of the Couromoda exhibition closed in São Paulo on January 18, with the organisers quickly claiming that orders taken by manufacturers at the show indicated that 5% growth in the domestic footwear market is likely for 2013.

They put consumption in Brazil for 2012 at 758 million pairs and projected that the figure is likely to increase to almost 800 million this year.

Around 1,100 exhibitors took part in Couromoda, showing off new collections for more than 3,000 footwear brands, as well as leathergoods.

Over the four days of the event, more than 80,000 visitors, mostly representing retail groups, came through the doors.
