LVMH gives green light to new Berluti factory

04/01/2013
Luxury group LVMH began the year by giving the go-ahead for a new production centre that the Berluti footwear brand will open in Gaibanella, near the Italian city of Ferrara.

Clearance to start work on the project came on January 2 and Berluti has said construction will begin in the coming months. The company believes the new site will be up and running in the course of 2014.

In total, the new factory, which will specialise in high-end handmade footwear and incorporate a centre of excellence for training a new generation of craftsmen and women, will employ more than 200 people. Almost 50 people are already in training to start making shoes in the new factory when it opens its doors.
