Up-and-coming footwear designer Nicole Le Grange of Love Art Wear Art was among the three emerging talents honoured at an awards ceremony to promote the UK footwear industry.

Chau Har Lee, a senior designer for Nike, presented the Designer Award, which includes a £5,000 bursary and a 12-month mentoring programme, to Ms Le Grange at a ceremony in London.

Up-and-coming brand Fury won the opportunity to show at US trade fair Magic after scooping the FN/Platform Award, presented by Nicholas Parry Billings of the British Footwear Association.

The Meltzer Travel Award went to Red by Wolves and also includes a mentoring programme and £750 to put towards trade shows.

Richard Kottler, president of Footwear Friends, said: “This sixth year of the awards saw a great response by applicants who all put a great deal of work into their business plans and presentations. Sadly there is only room for three winners, but there is no doubting the quality of our homegrown talent. I am also delighted that so many people attended the event and by doing so supported the trade’s unique charity.”

Joanne Stoker, head of footwear design at fashion house Mathew Williamson and a former winner of an award, gave the keynote speech.
