Havaianas looks to Asia
11/10/2012
Parent company Alpargatas said in recent comments that Havaianas has had a presence in China for years, that the brand now has a presence in 200 points of sale there and that the company intends to double that figure in the coming years.
India is a newer territory for the brand, but it has begun to work there in 2012 in partnership with a local distributor. Brand director Carla Schmitzberger has commented: “People in India are used to wearing light-soled sandals. The challenge is to convince them to use a product that is more expensive, but which will last longer.”
Alpargatas has said Pakistan and Indonesia are also of interest to it as future markets.
