One of the founders of high-end Italiani footwear brand Fabi, Enrico Fabi, has died. Mr Fabi was out walking in the seaside resort of Civitanova on the east coast of Italy and was taken ill. Local media said people on the nearby beach came to his help and alerted the emergency services, but that Mr Fabi died before a medical team could reach him. He was 78 years old.

Enrico Fabi founded Fabi Shoes with his brother Elisio in Monte San Giusto in Italy’s most prominent footwear manufacturing region, Le Marche, in 1965.

Fabi makes fashion shoes for men and women, as well as a limited range of high-end accessories. It has boutiques in Monaco, 40 across eastern Europe (including 11 in Moscow), three in Dubai, and 11 in China as well as five in Italy. Italian stores include a factory outlet in Monte San Giusto and a flagship store on Milan’s famous via Montenapoleone.
