US fashion retailer Kenneth Cole has teamed up with India-based Reliance Brands, a unit of Reliance Industries, to open stores a number of Indian cities. The deal involves Reliance Brands opening 20 exclusive Kenneth Cole stores in the next three to five years.

“Kenneth Cole has instant brand recall with the Indian customers, both in apparels and formal footwear,” Darshan Mehta, president and CEO, Reliance Brands. Kenneth Cole Productions unveiled its India entry as it announced a disappointing set of numbers in its latest quarterly results.

Kenneth Cole will be the seventh international fashion brand coming through the Reliance firm, which was set up five years ago to build a fashion business as part of its broader retail ambitions.
