India: FDDI offers new footwear courses
India’s Footwear Design and Development Institute (FDDI) has introduced three new courses in fashion and retail management for the forthcoming academic year. The courses will function under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry at Irungattukottai, near Chennai
Mr Salai Maran, executive director of FDDI, said the institute was the first of its kind in the entire southern region. “We are offering three postgraduate courses in fashion merchandising and retail management, footwear technology and creative designing CAD/CAM, apart from two undergraduate courses in fashion merchandising and retail management and footwear technology,” he said.
Pointing out that the courses were on high demand in the industries, he said none of the private institutions in the country offered such courses. “All the FDDI institutes situated in six different locations in India are having a track record of 100% placement,” he added.
Mr Maran also underlined that the curriculum was based on the Australian universities and the institute had state-of-the-art imported machines. The FDDI, which was inaugurated last year at Irungatukottai, is now set to function from a new campus.
