US-based active apparel and footwear producer Columbia Sportswear Company has reported higher sales for the second quarter ended June 30. Net sales totalled $211.6 million, an increase of 13.6% over the $186.2 million reported for the same period in 2005.

Net income decreased 23.8% to $4.8 million from $6.3 million for the same period of 2005. Net income for the second quarter of 2006 included $2 million in after-tax stock-based compensation expense.
