South African manufacturing increase offset by footwear decline

According to the statistics department, estimated manufacturing production from January to May has risen by 4.1% compared with the same period in 2005. Eight of the ten manufacturing divisions reported higher levels of production, including motor vehicles, metal products and paper products.
