EU PFHxA restrictions take effect for footwear
Footwear manufacturers selling into the EU must now comply with new limits on PFHxA and related substances, following the introduction of restrictions on October 10.
The measure, introduced under the EU's REACH chemicals regulation, targets a subgroup of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) used to provide water, oil and stain repellency. The restrictions apply to relevant materials used in footwear, including leather and textiles, where PFHxA and related substances are present.
