Green light for BASF complex in Zhanjiang
Chemicals group BASF has secured final approval to construct a new Verbund plant in Zhanjiang, in the west of China’s Guangdong province. Verbund is a term BASF uses to describe a manufacturing complex that integrates a range of component factories.
BASF will invest up to €10 billion by 2030 to build the complex. Construction began there in 2020. It will be the group’s third-largest Verbund site worldwide after the complexes in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Antwerp, Belgium.
