Adidas removes laces in newest tennis shoe

The latest tennis footwear from adidas has a knit collar and no shoe laces, creating a silhouette the brand says offers improved fit and control.
By removing conventional laces, adidas said, the Stycon “creates the perfect connection between the foot and the shoe” while the knit collar of the shoe is engineered to naturally expand to fit the foot’s shape shape.
According to Stanislav Goussev, footwear design director at adidas, the shoe was designed to prioritise comfort, stability and durability, while also achieving a distinctively new aesthetic.
“[We] looked at how we can design this tennis shoe differently, how we can revolutionise what a tennis shoe looks like and what we expect from a tennis shoe,” he said.
