New survey reveals top selling outdoor brands
Part two of the 2008 SNEWS Outdoor Retailer Survey summary reveals which outdoor brands had the top market share in the US last year across a number of categories.
When it came to shoes, the top-selling men's footwear brand was Merrell (27%) and the top-selling women's footwear brand (24%) in 2008.
Smartwool was the top-selling sock brand according to an impressive 80.5% share of the votes and Patagonia was the top-selling underwear brand (39%).
According to the specialty outdoor retailers questioned, Cascade Designs (8%) was the top-selling accessory brand and Osprey (37.5%) was the top-selling pack brand in 2008. They claimed MSR (14%) was the top-selling tent brand and Mountain Hardwear (17%) was the top-selling sleeping bag brand.
Retailers said that The North Face was the top-selling men's technical outerwear brand (42%) and the top-selling women's technical outerwear brand (52.5%). The North Face was also the top-selling men's sportswear brand (52.5%) in 2008, while Patagonia was the top-selling women's sportswear brand (18%).
