An Edinburgh-based newspaper has put Scottish footwear entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter in the frame to acquirethe Shoe Studio retail chain.
Shoe Studio, which claims to have the largest footprint, geographically, of any shoe retailer in the UK is part of the mosaic fashion group, which has gone into administration following the collapse last year of Iceland’s Kaupthing bank.
The Scotsman newspaper said on March 2 that Sir Tom Hunter, who began his business life by selling cheap athletic shoes at a market stall in the west of Scotland, had tabled a bid for the chain.
Shoe Studio has 1,870 employees, 13 single stores and 270 concessions.
