Shoe firms meet at fMM&T
The Footwear Materials Manufacturing & Technology Fair (fMM&T), which runs May 8-10 in Greater Noida, New Delhi, is expected to attract exhibitors and visitors from all over the world. Products on show will include hides and skins, finishing chemicals and dyes, shoe machinery, equipment and tools, and CAD-CAM design and supply chain software technology.
According to the show’s organisers, footwear is the engine of growth for the entire Indian leather industry and the country is the second largest global producer of footwear after China. It accounts for 14% of the 14.5 billion pairs produced globally.
India produces 2.1 billion pairs of shoes in total including leather shoes (909 million pairs), leather shoe uppers (100 million pairs) and non-leather footwear (1.1 million pairs). India exports approximately 115 million pairs, leaving approximately 95% of production for domestic consumption.
