Brazilian brands back at Colombian show

As a result of the gradual growth of imports of Brazilian footwear by Colombian traders and retail groups, four Brazilian brands have decided to resume participation in the International Footwear and Leather Show (IFLS), to be held from 17 to 20 February in Bogotá.
The brands in question are Klin, Bibi, Villione and Bottero/Madeira Brasil.
Caroline Venceleski, marketing consultant for Brazilian Footwear and in charge of organising the trip has pointed out that IFLS is an extremely important event since other Latin American countries represent a very significant market for Brazil. “Geographical proximity, similar footwear construction and the same type of weather benefit our industry in the Colombian market,” she said.
IFLS is Colombia’s main event in the leather and footwear sector. It is organised by the Colombian Association of Footwear Manufacturers (Acicam). Each edition of this fair brings together around 500 companies exhibiting locally produced footwear as well as footwear belonging to overseas brands, leather, leather accessories, travel goods, leather and components in a space of 11,000 square-metres. Approximately, 15,000 visitors usually take part.
In 2008, Brazil exported 2.1 million pairs of shoes to Colombia, generating a turnover of $16.1 million.
