Green TPU wins award

TPU manufacturer Merquinsa has won a product innovation and 'green excellence' award from analyst firm Frost & Sullivan.
The award recognises the Barcelona-based company's innovation in biopolymers, resulting in the release of Bio TPU, which is made from renewable carbon resources and is being marketed globally under the names Pearlthane and Pearlbond ECO.
The TPU is already being used in a wide range of applications, including footwear. Merquinsa claims that using its new product can result in a 40% reduction in carbon emissions.
The company features in an article in the January-February 2009 issue of World Footwear.
