According to the fire brigade in Lahore, Pakistan, a large fire has broken out in a privately owned shoe sole manufacturing unit in Shahdara, Northern Lahore. The name of the company has not yet been released.

A large number of fire fighting units have been trying to control the fire, which engulfed the whole factory. This has been particularly difficult as the area where the factory is located is extremely congested. Several of its outer walls have collapsed and it is feared that nearby factories could also be affected.

Initial inquiries suggest the fire erupted as a result of short-circuiting. However, no deaths or injuries have been reported as the factory was closed for the Eid festival.
