Should babies wear stilettos?

01/12/2008

Little girls have been known for trying on a pair of their mum’s shoes while playing ‘dressing up’. However, many people would draw the line at buying stilettos for their newly born babies.

Despite this, a range of stilettos for zero- to six-month-old babies has been launched by two American mothers. The collection, called Heelarious, includes six different styles and come in colours such as leopard print and hot pink.

During the first two weeks of being on sale, 2,000 pairs were reportedly sold in the UK, Ireland and Belgium.

While designers Britta Bacon and Hayden Porter claim the shoes should be a fun novelty, some feel it is inappropriate and even dangerous to put them on the feet of babies.
