Mephisto to open more Italian stores

26/11/2008

High-end French footwear brand Mephisto is on the point of increasing from six to ten the number of own-brand stores it runs in Italy.

Positive results during 2008 at the existing stores in Venice, Rome, Padua, Florence, Milan and Mantua, as well as at the 850 multibrand outlets, have encouraged the company to set up new dedicated 'Mephisto concept stores' in Verona, Trieste, Bologna and Palermo.

The brand's concept stores are franchise operations, owned and run by footwear retailers who have developed extensive knowledge and love of Mephisto's Goodyear welted business shoes, walking shoes and boating shoes for men, and mocassin and bellet pumps for women. Both ranges also include sandals and high-performance boots.

The company's brand manager for Italy, Gianni Klemera, told local media recently: "Our turnover in Italy has increased to about €14 million; we sold 300,000 pairs between January and mid-October, and orders for spring-summer 2009 are by about 10% on the same season this year."
