False Crocs scandal

The owner of a footwear business in the town of Petrer in Alicante has been arrested by local police and accused of using the warehouse facilities at his factory to store and distribute false Crocs-type footwear imported from China.
The authorities seized almost 25,000 pairs of the sandals that appeared to be copies of the Crocs product.
The police said in a statement that the factory owner had used the distribution network he had built up for his own shoes to sell them all over the Valencia region.
