The exhibition attracted 70 exhibitors from 17 countries, with participating companies travelling from the US, Australia, Brazil, Turkey, Italy, Indonesia, South Africa, Thailand, India, Greece, Pakistan, Spain, Bangladesh, Egypt, China and Vietnam to take part alongside local firms from the United Arab Emirates.

On behalf of the organisers, Raees Ahmed said at the opening ceremony: “
We have launched Footwear Expo 2008 in response to the growing Middle East market for footwear and leather products, and we are delighted to see the extensive participation of exhibitors from across the globe. The overwhelming interest for the exhibition by international exhibitors reiterates the importance of having this kind of event, which will give them a great opportunity to gain exposure for their various products, their new designs as well as their innovative manufacturing technologies. The presence of top footwear manufacturing countries reaffirms how important the Middle East market is, which gives us motivation to stage a bigger show next year.”
