Shoe exports up in Dongguan and Wenzhou

Chinese shoe exports appear to be on the rise, with double-digit growth reported for Heshan City, Dongguan City and Wenzhou.

During the third quarter, Dongguan Customs recorded a 9.8% rise in total exports for Dongguan City, with exports totalling $87.9 billion. Shoe exports totalled $2 billion, rising 19.8% and accounting for 4.1% of total exports for the city.

Meanwhile, for the first three quarters of the year, Wenzhou’s shoe exports totalled 2.1 billion, according to the Department of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, Zhejiang Province. This represents a 13% rise year-on-year, although the growth rate has slowed by 7.2% compared with the same period last year. The number of pairs exported fell 3.1% to 40.9 million pairs; however, the value per unit rose to $5.04, a 16.7% increase.
