According to media reports, the Macedonian economy has been really affected by the global financial crisis and the shoe and apparel sectors have taken a major hit.

The metal industry was the first to suffer the biggest setbacks, but the footwear and clothing sector—the country’s third largest export segment—is now at risk of total collapse if reports are to be believed.

Many shipments have already been cancelled and a number of workers have already lost their jobs.
