EOG has its say on anti-dumping
22/10/2008
The European Outdoor Group (EOG), part of the European Footwear Alliance, is hoping that anti-dumping duties levelled against Chinese and Vietnamese leather shoe exported to Europe are overturned.
The European Commission decided to launch a review of the duties at the end of September, but many have complained that the review process takes too long, and that the duties are harming the global shoe industry.Secretary general of the EOG, Mark Held, said that: “The alliance aims to represent the wishes of the majority and hopes that any review undertaken is done quickly to allow as little continuing disruption to the sector as possible.”
The alliance, which includes the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry, the European Branded Footwear Coalition, the Hauptverband der Deutschen Schuhindustrie and the EOG, collectively represents 98% of athletic footwear sales and approximately 80% of outdoor hiking and trekking sales in Europe.
