New footwear master's course to launch

20/10/2008

A new European master’s degree course in footwear will start in February. Confirmation has come from the university that will coordinate the course, the University of Applied Sciences of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI).

Andrea Castrovinci, a lecturer and researcher at the university, said at the recent UITIC Congress in Elche, Spain, that topics would cover the whole of the lifecycle of shoes, including what happens to them after the consumer has finished wearing them. He said: “I'm sorry to say there are no schools focusing on end-of-life at the moment.”

The course will be modular, with materials and teaching in English. The cost will be around €15,000. Subscriptions will open in November at a special website (www.masfmt.supsi.ch) and will stay open until January.
