Greek president visits Vietnam

The president of Greece, Karolos Papoulias, is on a state visit to Vietnam. As part of the trip he has already attended a business forum representing business delegations from both countries. The forum is expected to bring improve bilateral trade and commercial development.

While addressing the forum, Greek deputy foreign minister, Mr Doukas, said there were many promising areas of co-operation for bilateral trade development, including textiles, apparel and footwear.

The deputy minister of industry and trade in Vietnam, Le Danh Vinh, said: “The economies of the two countries complement each other and Greece could prove to be a potential partner of Vietnam”.

Bilateral trade between the two countries stood at $90 million in 2007, and this figure included a substantial number of shoe, clothing and textile exports.
