According to figures from Pakistan’s Federal Bureau of Statistics, the number of pairs of shoes produced in the country rose from 1.7 million pairs in July 2007 to 2.8 million pairs in July 2008, an increase of 60.1%.

However, sole leather production fell 11.11% to eight tons during the month from nine tons in July 2008.
