Fabio Aromatici to head up ANCI

03/10/2008

Fabio Aromatici took over management of the National Association of Italian Footwear Manufacturers (ANCI) on October 1, following Leonardo Soana’s 25 years in the role.

Mr Aromatici graduated in Law in 1962 and has since held a range of posts in
Italy
and overseas including for industrial associations, private companies and consultancy offices.

Previous roles included secretary of the electromedical appliances group of the Association of Electrotechnical and Electronic Industries from 1988 to 1994; sectorial politics area manager at the Chambers Union of Lombardy until 1995; manager for the development of collaboration agreements between Italian SMEs and American businesses at De Barbieri & Associates Inc International (US) until 1997; export manager for the Gibam Group until 1999; and finally small business manager and then market and business area director at Assolombarda.

“ANCI,” he says, “is an association that is particularly active in the promotion of footwear at an international level and so we will continue to be committed to this, accompanying the operative actions with a growing number of economical and statistical information that can be used as guidance for companies, especially in a moment of great economical unrest such as the present one.

”The entry of China into the WTO in 2001, the economic crisis and financial turbulence that will have an impact on all markets and so, therefore, on our sector that exports more than 70% of its production - these are just some of the factors of instability.

”It is more important than ever to help companies both through information to support their decisions as well as with concrete initiatives to support their internationalisation.”

He adds that the association is renewing its website in order to make it easier to use.
