More growth from Vietnam

Leather sector exports from Vietnam, led by footwear, continue to grow.
Out of total Vietnamese exports of $43.3 billion between January and August 2008, the share of leather footwear and other leather products stood at $3.7 billion, compared to $ 3.1 billion in January–August 2007, a growth of 17.7%, according to data released by General Statistics Office of Vietnam.
The breakdown showed that Vietnam exported leather footwear worth almost $3.2 billion for the first eight months of the year, compared to $ 2.7 billion the previous year.
During August 2008 alone, Vietnam’s footwear exports were $430 million, against $390 million in the corresponding month last year.
