Mary-Kate and Ashley get into footwear

Screen-star sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have announced that they intend to launch a new line of footwear, which they will co-design with Steve Madden.
The shoe collection will debut at luxury footwear retail outlets globally in spring 2009 and will come under the Elizabeth and James fashoin brand the sisters have set up already.
New York-based Steve Madden has said it is creating its own infrastructure for the project, including a dedicated designer and salesperson.
“This agreement marks the
beginning of a much-anticipated expansion of the Elizabeth and James
brand into a key category that complements our core apparel business,”
said Jill Collage, executive vice-president of the Olsen’s company, Dualstar. “Interest in
the Elizabeth and James brand has been overwhelmingly positive and we
are confident Steve Madden is the perfect fit for the footwear endeavour.”
Mary-Kate Olsen said: “We are excited to partner with Steve Madden to create the new footwear line. With their proven experience in all
aspects of design, production and distribution, we intend to take the
contemporary shoe market to a new level.”
