Geox seals China deal

Italian breathable footwear brand Geox has engineered a new deal with Chinese footwear retail group Belle International.
The distribution agreement will give Geox a presence in 200 Chinese outlets by 2010 and the company has said it will seek to make the most of its presence in the Chinese market through specific advertising campaigns there.
"Today is an important day for our global expansion strategies,” said Geox founder and chairman, Mario Moretti Polegato, on announcing the development. “Through cooperation with Belle International Geox will introduce its innovative products to customers who love fashion and comfort for their feet. I am confident that many Chinese consumers will appreciate our products.”
Belle International's executive director, Yu Ming Fang, commented: “People are becoming more demanding on the technological and health aspect of shoes due to the rising living standards. There is great potential for the development of the leisure segment in the shoes market. Belle aims at bringing outstanding, high quality footwear products to the market.
