Chinese shoe exports to the Czech Republic rise
Reports indicate that exports of Chinese shoes to the Czech Republic rose significantly in the first half of 2008. Year-on-year, exports to the country grew at a double digit rate.
And as the imported shoes are decreasing in price, there is growing concern among Czech shoe manufacturers, particularly as economic conditions in Europe appear to be worsening. The footwear sector is already in decline, with current production now at just 10% of the levels seen in the early 1990s.
