Ambitious targets at Bata
Managing director at Bata India, Marcello Villagram, has reportedly said that he wants to open 30 new stores in the second half of fiscal year 2009. The footwear brand is hoping revenues will exceed Rs10 billion ($232.6 million) in the same period, with a 15% increase in fiscal year 2010. Mr Villagram is expecting raw material prices to fall and says the company is on track with existing land developments. Recent improvements to its shoe collections, particularly in terms of safety footwear, are also expected to help it reach these ambitious targets.
