Bontrager develops cycling shoe with customised footbed
06/08/2008
Bontrager will introduce its cycling shoe with eSoles customisable footbeds next week. The eFit footbed, which will appear in all Bontrager shoes, can be customised by the consumer using the eSoles self-guided 3D TruCapture Kiosk Scanning System. The system identifies specific customised inserts and uses a patented pneumatic air pillow to capture a 3D and 2D image of the feet. The digital image is then analysed against eSoles' proprietary scientific algorithms to determine the optimal combination of eFit components including metatarsal pad, arch length and arch height. The process takes less than five minutes to complete.
Consumers will also have the option to purchase an additional upgrade to their Bontrager shoe by ordering a fully customised ePro footbed. This 100% custom option is the official footbed of USA Cycling and is the same footbed that was used by the discovery channel professional cycling team in their 2007 Tour de France victory.
