Sport shoes become street shoes with Skintek
California-based Cleatskins has introduced a new accessory designed to fit over cleated shoes to “quickly and conveniently take athletes from the field to the street”. The rubber shell can be used by soccer, baseball, football, golf and other outdoor sports players.
Two designs have been launched - Cleatskins Sole and Cleatskins Golf - both of which are constructed from Skintek rubber, a type of compression moulded rubber. Cleatskins Sole is a flexible shell that fits over plastic and rubber cleated footwear, cupping the shoe from the bottom. Cleatskins Golf offers the same protection and ease of mobility but is customised to meet the specific needs of golfers on and off the course.
“As a former athlete, I have decades of experience wearing out and replacing expensive athletic shoes,” said Rick Kay, president of Cleatskins. “We created Cleatskins to help athletes enjoy their favourite sports stylishly while saving time and money.”
The shells help extend the life of cleats by protecting studs from wear and tear. The rubber compound also makes shoes more street-friendly by improving mobility and safety on asphalt and concrete surfaces. It creates a sealed barrier to keep dirt and grass from being trampled through the home. Furthermore, Skintek is machine washable.
Cleatskins Sole is available in jet black, blue ribbon, royal blue, kelly green, lime green, lemon chrome, orange, formula one red, hot pink, camo grey, camo pink and liquid gold. Cleatskins Golf is available in slate, burnished brown, and pearl.
