Brazilian firms to set up in India

06/08/2008

It appears that a number of Brazilian leather and footwear firms are interested in setting up joint ventures with Indian companies. Two recent road shows organised by India's Council for Leather Exports (CLE) in Brazil last month sparked the interest of no fewer than 28 Brazilian companies.

These Brazilian firms are looking to set up shoe factories, manufacturing facilities for shoe boxes, chemical plants, water effluent plants, inner sole manufacturing units, and other footwear-related plants in India.

There was also significant interest in importing raw materials for footwear and other leather goods from India. Further developments will be discussed at forthcoming delegate visits in both countries.
