Value of EU footwear imports falls

New figures suggest that in the first five months of 2008, the value of footwear imports to the 27 member countries of the European Union fell by 2.4%.
The figures from the European Statistical Office (Eurostat) show that in the first five months of 2008, the footwear imports of 27 EU countries amounted to 5.29 billion euros, down 2.4%.
The top 10 sources for the shoes that did arrive in EU countries during the period under examination still had China and Vietnam (whose leather shoes are subject to anti-dumping measures from the EU), followed by India, Indonesia, Brazil, Tunisia, Morocco, Thailand, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Switzerland.
