Course concessions

With few days remaining before the application deadline, the organisers of a new footwear design and management course at the Miguel Hernández university in Elche, Spain, have announced that some places will be made available to seasoned footwear operators.

Three-quarters of the students who start the new course in October will have university-entry-level qualifications, but the university will waive this requirement for up to 25% of applicants if they have enough industry experience.

The course will run until April and will involve 200 hours in the lecture theatre and a further 300 hours of practical work at the production facilities of local footwear firms. Students will pay a course fee of €2,600, but they can apply for help in making htis payment.

All students will cover the foundations of footwear together before choosing to specialise in either design or management.

The cut-off point for applications is July 31 and the course organisers will tell applicants in mid-September if they have a place.
