Chance meeting in Greece

Representatives of the footwear industry in La Rioja (Spain's second most important footwear producing region) had a chance meeting with the Spanish prime minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, in Athens.
The prime minister was on an official visit to Greece and the six footwear firms were taking part in an exhibition of goods from La Rioja in the Athens Imperial hotel. He agreed to the meeting and listened to the concerns of the shoe manufacturers who have, in recent months, asked the Spanish government to make promised support for the footwear sector available to companies quickly.
