To explore business opportunities between Poland and Pakistan in the leather and footwear sectors, a three-member delegation from Poland visited the Pakistan International Footwear Exhibition (JUFT 2008) in Lahore at the end of June.

Daniel Kordjak, export executive for footwear manufacturer Rylko Spolka, told leatherbiz.com that his company was particularly interested in importing women’s footwear from Pakistan. He said the cost of doing business in Poland was going up because of currency factors and the rising cost of raw materials.

Poland imports a big quantity of footwear, shoe upper, sole and other products from China, Italy, Vietnam, Romania, India, Germany, Spain, Portugal and Thailand.

Mr  Kordjak’s factory has the capacity to produce 500,000 pairs of shoes a year, with 98% of production dedicated to the women’s market.
