Spanish exports down

04/07/2008

The Spanish footwear manufacturers' association FICE has said it remains optimistic in spite of a fall in exports during the first four months of the year.

Between January and April 2008, Spanish firms exported 29 million pairs of shoes with a value of €556.3 million. This represents a fall of 6.9% in volume and of 5.5% in value.

However, the organisation pointed out that the average price of a pair of exported shoes was up by 1.6% and said it remained upbeat about the Spanish footwear sector's prospects for rapid growth after the current economic downturn is over.
