Nairobi based Leather-Touch (Foot Care Specialists) placed orders worth $110,000 for leathergoods and footwear during the two days of the tenth Pakistan International Footwear Exhibition (JUFT), which took place in Lahore on June 28 and 29.

Joseph Karega, marketing director of the company told leatherbiz.com that he booked orders for shipments in a number of lots from July until December. The goods he ordered included
belts, purses and wallets, and men’s and women’s shoes.

The Pakistani manufacturers that will supply the products include Starlet Products; Mehr Dastgir Leather & Footwear industry and Al-Noor Shoes.

Mr Karega’s company has been importing leathergoods and footwear from Pakistan for the last couple of years. He said he was quite satisfied with the quality of Pakistani products, which is why he attended the JUFT event again and placed orders. He said he planned to order more goods from Pakistan in future too, in spite of these products carrying 25% import duty and 16% VAT when coming into the Kenyan market.
