Lectra opens Indian subsidiary

Technology provider to the footwear industry Lectra is opening a new subsidiary in India.
Based in Bangalore, this new arm of the company will aim to develop new sales opportunities and to strengthen Lectra’s relationships with existing Indian clients.
The company has described India as “a superpower in the making” with a growth rate of around 8.5% in 2007 and a young, and increasingly affluent population.
Lectra works with Indian companies in the apparel, footwear and fashion accessories industries, as well as in the automotive and industrial fabrics sector.
Lectra has been present in India for over 10 years, represented by partner company Magnum Solutions, serving Indian companies in the footwear, apparel, accessories, industrial materials and automotive sectors.
Laxmanasandra Jayaram (L.J.) Prashanth will head up the new subsidiary. He said on taking up the appointment: “My mission is to increase our growth potential, to develop sales, and to position Lectra as leader in cutting and CAD/CAM systems for the footwear, apparel and fashion accessory industries as well as the automotive and industrial fabrics markets. We already have a good installed base for our automated cutting systems, but we also want to develop sales of software.”
