Footwear production to end at Eider
12/06/2008
Outdoor brand Eider will cease production of footwear.
The move is one of the consequences of Lafuma’s decision to take the company over, paying the symbolic sum of €1 for it on June 11.
The chief executive of Lafuma, Philippe Joffard, said his company had overcome competition from two unnamed rivals for Eider and would now concentrate on renegotiating its debts and reorganising its activities.
It was at this point that he said footwear production would cease, leaving Eider to focus on what he called “snow and outdoor chic”.
Mr Joffard went on to say: “Our reorganisation of Eider will be considerable; everything apart from outdoor could end up outside its remit.”
