35 tonnes of ‘contraband’ shoes

The authorities in Mexico City have raided businesses in the area of Tepito, famous for its flea market, and seized 35 tonnes of allegedly contraband footwear.
Most of the shoes were sandals and sports shoes from the cheaper end of the market, which the authorities said had come into Mexico illegally from China.
Almost 500 officers took part in the raid.
