LaCrosse Footwear is to close two distribution centres, replacing them will a new Indianapolis plant. The two existing centres, which currently employ 32 workers, are set to close at the end of April 2009.

The company has chosen Indianapolis to be its new distribution hub because it offers competitive annual costs and access to interstate transportation routes. It claims it will be able to fulfil 70% of customer orders within 24 hours when the new centre is up and running.

LaCrosse supplies protective shoes for industries including law enforcement, agriculture, fire fighting, construction, industry and military services as well as for outdoor activities such as hunting, outdoor cross training and hiking.
