Taiwanese firms invest in Bangladesh

Two Taiwanese companies will set up shoe manufacturing facilities in the Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone in southern Bangladesh at total cost of $93 million.

Genfort Shoes will invest about $47 million in its new site, where it hopes to produce 5 million pairs of shoes a year.
Another company, Xin Chang Shoes, will invest just slightly less in its new factory (around $45 million) to produce the same volume of shoes.
