Artecola celebrates 60th anniversary

The Artecola Group celebrated its 60th anniversary earlier in May. Founded in Novo Hamburgo in 1948 as a small glue factory supplying the footwear industry, the business has grown and expanded its field of activities to become one of Latin America's largest suppliers of adhesives and footwear components. It now supplies the wood, paper and packaging, transport, textil and civil construction sectors as well as the industry in general and the consumer product market.
The company achieved net revenue of $124.4 million in 2007, an increase of 29% on 2006. In the course of last year, Artecola also acquired four new industrial units in Chile, Peru, Argentina and Mexico.
Artecola has announced production of a new special range of safety footwear designed to withstand the most adverse weather and working conditions. Named 'Polistep' the new range of boots, which was tested in Antarctica has Gore-Tex lining (Artecola is the only Gore licensee in Latin America) and is intended for use by bikers as well as workers in the meat packing and steel sector to mention just a few. Initially, the company is planning to produce 2,500 thousand pairs of these new boots.
